I’m visiting from Sydney, Australia and I’ve been using the buses to get around. The smaller buses are insane, I could’ve squeezed out a cry from the trip I just took. There is no timetable, no bus stops, no button to press when you want to get off, the drivers drive like they’re trying to kill everyone on board and generally don’t even stop, you have to board/exit while the bus is still moving, sometimes not even on the side of the road. Sometimes people get on and try to sell snacks and the driver just lets it happen. Tonight my bus got pulled over by the police (I’m assuming for speeding?). Luckily he got let off with a warning. Are there any road rules in Lima??? I have no idea how much to pay because I don’t speak Spanish (this is my fault). Some buses use coins while some use a card. Just in general how do people not crash into each other when all lane markings are ignored, indicators are optional and right of way is non existent??? Everyone I’ve seen get on the bus does it with such ease. I think you guys would love Sydney buses/trains lol. I’m honestly just in awe that this is functional hahaha please enlighten me Limeños!
