I first entered Peru on 1 October 2025 and stayed until 15 December 2025. I re-entered on 16 May 2026 and have been here since. My lawyer arranged a 20-day extension while I applied for a work visa, but the apostille of my criminal record didn't arrive in time, it came back four days after my final deadline. I'm now at 204 days in the country, and I leave on Monday to cross into Bolivia for a couple of weeks. My questions: What are my chances of being allowed back in when I return? My lawyer can give me a letter to present at the border showing that my one-year work visa application is in progress. Is that my best option or would I be better off buying an onward/return flight (say, out of Lima) so the border officers grant me 10 days and my lawyer can restart the process? I'm wanting to do this legit to stay for a year working here rather than overstay and pay a fine when i leave.
