Going to Peru for a month (around December/January) and staying in the San Juan de Lurigancho area. I’m a 24 y/o American, white, and I speak some Spanish but wouldn’t call myself fluent. Does anyone have experience being in that area of Lima? Is there things to do around there (food, shopping, activities)? Did you feel safe? If you’re wondering “why are you staying in that neighborhood???” I’m staying with people I know from there.
