I’m not sure of the circumstances that led her to reside in the US but she worked in the front desk of the hospital when my mom passed. She was very sweet. She gave my family some hand knitted scarves/blankets, chatted frequently and took us to the Chapel to pray for us. She would always recognize my dad as my mom frequented the ICU over several years. Perhaps a gift that would spark nostalgia or just something that would be appreciated. I was thinking about getting her one of the alpaca fur scarves since she gave us some scarves, but I am not sure if those are more for tourists or actually appreciated by locals. Will be in Cusco and Lima. She seemed to have a lot of pride in her country but I am not sure what city/region she was from.
