Huaraz - Huayhuash without agency?
Hi, I just arrived in Lima a few days ago and tomorrow/the day after I wanna leave for Huaraz. I‘d start with day hikes to get used to the altitude but then I‘d like to do one of the longer ones. If possible, to Huayhuash. (preferably 8/10 day route) I don’t have hundreds of dollars to spare though and thought about doing it without a guide (but in a group of course). Still, how risky ist that? Can somebody speak of their experience? I‘m relatively experienced in hiking, but no pro, let alone an expert of the area. Also I have heard that there are some sort of cafés in Huaraz where you can find people to form a group with. Does that work independent from the guides? And would anybody recommend a different way of finding a group in advance/ would be interested in joining? Or can somebody recommend an alternative option to lower prices? You can also hire a guide without doing everything via an agency as well, right? Are there safe options for that? I’d be happy for some insight. Thanks a lot in advance
