¡Buenos dias r/Peru! My partner and I are going to be coming to visit your beautiful country and we are so incredibly excited to see it all! Part of what we would love to be able to do is visit a coffee farm while we are there to see how exactly the coffee from your country (which is FANTASTIC by the way) is produced by local farmers. We're both big fans of new wave coffee production and thought this would be a great opportunity. One thing that we don't want to do though, is to go to a coffee farm that is exploitative towards its labourers or go through a tour company that doesn't fairly compensate the farmers. In the perfect world, we would book something directly through an independent farmer or a farming coop, though I don't even know if that's possible. We will be going to Cusco before we start our Salkantay trail hike and would be looking for a region or farm that would be close to Cusco (maybe 3 hours or less away by car). Based on some of what we found, we know there is a coffee growing region around Cusco that would be ideal for what we are looking for. We are going in early August, if that changes any part of our planning. Most importantly, wherever we go, we want to make sure that we are as respectful as possible. We are fully aware that we are coming in as foreigners and we do not want to be rude or seem ungrateful to our hosts. If there are any tips you have, or best ways for us to book something like this, you'd have to travellers who would be eternally grateful.
