To my surprise, the Peruvian prosecutor's office opened a formal criminal investigation, and I've been asked to give witness testimony (declaración testimonial) via Google Meet to the Policía Nacional del Perú, Comisaría de Ocongate. The session is tomorrow, Monday, July 6, at 9:30 AM Peru time = 7:30 AM Pacific. Expected duration: 60-90 minutes. Consecutive interpretation (I speak, pause, you translate; officer speaks, pause, you translate for me). I don't speak Spanish. The officer has already accommodated one postponement to let me arrange an interpreter, so canceling again isn't an option. I've tried professional interpreter services and the cost ($200-400+) is beyond what I can cover right now.
